-Roadtrip to Genting Highland-
The
Main Range which is also known poetically as Banjaran Titiwangsa in Malay is a ridge of granite mountains that forms
Peninsula Malaysia’s north-south backbone. Many of the range’s peaks reach
above 6,000 feet and this is where the cool hill stations of Cameron Highlands,
Fraser’s Hill and Genting Highlands lie. Genting is acknowledged as Malaysia’s
premier hillside station; this Kuala Lumpur mountain peak getaway is Malaysia’s
Asian-style Las Vegas. Renowned for its casino, nightlife and luxury hotels, it
features the First World Hotel – which was listed as the world's largest hotel
in 2006 by the Guinness World Book of Records. Dubbed the City of
Entertainment, this breezy resort-town is especially popular with locals and
weekend warriors from Singapore. Dotted with touristy hotels, it has more than
a few attractions - namely cave temples erected in honour of important figures
- and frequently plays host to a slew of international acts that range from
Boyz II Men to Leona Lewis at the Arena of Stars.
The
20th Century Fox World Malaysia is slated to open by the end of 2018, but it’s
expected to be one of the most exciting theme parks in Malaysia. Replacing the
Genting Highlands Outdoor Theme Park, expect 25 thrilling rides and attractions
inspired by Hollywood blockbusters
If
you’re tired of the bright lights and kitschy slot machines, then take to the
cool hillside, saddled atop a beautiful horse and take in the sights of the
greenery of the tropical forest. The equestrian centre is located within the
Awana Genting Highlands Golf & Country Resort; it’s a good way to spend
time within the lush jungle without having to hoof around on your own two feet.
